Late May to June and September to early October offer warm sea, open beach clubs and far fewer people than July and August. High summer brings the full scene and the highest prices, plus the meltemi wind, which is strongest in July and August. Most beach venues close from late October to late April.
Not necessarily. Mykonos Town is pedestrian, KTEL buses run from two stations in town to the main beaches in season, and sea taxis link the southern beaches from Ornos and Platis Gialos. A car or scooter earns its keep for the north and east coasts — Fokos, Ftelia, Agios Sostis, Kalafatis — and for late nights when taxis are scarce.
Delos is an uninhabited archaeological island about 30 minutes by boat from the Old Port in Mykonos Town. Boats run several times a morning in season and the last return is early afternoon; the site closes on Mondays outside high season, so check the day. You can book a boat-only ticket or a guided tour; several sailing trips also combine Delos with a swim at Rhenia.
